Promises Made... Promises Kept.
PASSED PARSIPPANY TAXPAYERS PROTECTION ACT
Every year, property taxes are crushing hardworking families in Parsippany. To stabilize taxes we passed the Parsippany Taxpayers Protection Act, which prohibits the Administration from increasing the appropriations portion of the budget greater than the rate of inflation in any one year. Also, we scrutinized the budgets to eliminate millions in wasteful spending.
CONTROLLED OVERCROWDING
Overcrowding was addressed head-on by passing a series of “Anti-Stacking” ordinances. Enforcement efforts resulted in thousands of inspections generating more than $320,000 in revenue- more revenue than needed to run the unit. The ordinances helped reduce the strain on valuable township resources, improved our quality of life, and translated into tax savings.
PROTECTED OUR ENVIRONMENT
Working with the Environmental Advisory Committee we are committed to a clean environment and reduced energy by reducing the Township’s carbon footprint. We passed a phosphate-free fertilizer ordinance preventing contamination of our lakes and storm water. Finally, we introduced a farmer’s market so fresh, local produce is now available.
CONTROLLED THE USE OF TOWNHIP VEHICLES
With taxpayers under increasing pressure, we could no longer allow the use of township vehicles as a condition of employment or as a perk for employees’ personal use. We passed a vehicle use ordinance that halted the permanent assignment of township vehicles for personal use and imposed strong penalties for improper use.
CONTROLLED TRAFFIC
We created the Parsippany-Troy Hills Traffic Advisory Committee, thereby making traffic an issue at the forefront of our local government. For the past 3 years, the Committee has raised awareness about traffic issues, worked to place traffic signs at dangerous intersections, and received the support of the police and engineering departments.
REMEMBERED OUR FALLEN HEROES – THE 911 MEMORIAL
Parsippany is the largest, most diverse town in Morris County and yet we did not have a memorial to honor those Parsippany citizens who lost their lives on 9/11. We now have a memorial in front of Town Hall that will serve as a reminder of that fateful day.
