Our Platform for Parsippany
UPGRADE THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
We promise to reduce skyrocketing sewer and water bills that have risen due to severe neglect over 20 years. We’ll provide oversight of the upgrade plan and find creative, safe, and fiscally responsible ways to get the incinerators back on-line and reduce sewer fees.
We promise to explore new and existing technologies to produce clean, reliable, and cost-effective energy that will translate into tax savings. With an energy audit we will identify cost saving measures, explore solar, wind, thermal and hydro-power, and hybrid-fueled vehicles.
We promise to expand existing programs, improve communication and transportation, promote the use of the community center on weekends and in health emergencies, develop enhanced opportunities for socialization and inform seniors about state and federal programs.
We promise to fight the special interests that threaten property rights. The US Supreme Court ruled that towns can take your property through condemnation to the sole benefit of developers. We promise never to allow eminent domain to be used to take your home or business.
We promise to pass the Parsippany Transparency in Government Act, which will place the township’s finances online. Further, we promise to ensure that the Mayor’s office maintains a real “open door” policy and a responsive “Mayor’s Action Line.”
We promise to significantly lower our affordable housing obligations to a legally acceptable level and to scrutinize every development application to ensure that the requirements of the Master Plan are met and all local zoning/planning laws are satisfied.
We promise to rename the sewer residential fee to call it the sewer maintenance fee on your sewer bill. This could enable you to deduct the maintenance fee from your taxes. Under the current and prior administrations, the maintenance portion of your water and sewer bill has been combined with your actual usage fee.
We promise to establish an Economic Development Advisory Committee to develop and implement a business attraction and retention program, promote the occupancy of vacant commercial sites, and revitalize currently occupied properties to enhance our tax base.
We promise to conduct a thorough town-wide municipal audit to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of our municipal operations. This will identify waste and where change is needed to reduce costs and save taxpayer dollars.
